Missing in action…

I disappear for weeks and no one even bothers to send a cruiser by the house to check on me? I’m tempted to make up a big old tale of woe, something along the lines of being stuck in a Florida swamp or something, but…it’s been done. I’m battling a bad case of boringitis. My family is interesting enough, but more along the lines of a “Hey Grandma, you’ll never guess what Sam did today” There are plenty of you out there that would be as impressed with a blank space than that.

Larry update – doctors visits have gone ok, nothing to report. I’ve talked to him quite a bit and he seems to be keeping busy. There is some babble about wallpaper and bathrooms and such. This is why I don’t type those things. Cardinal baseball is back. His favorite team is doing well. Jen has had zero additional heart attacks. Dullsville.

I just wanted to check in. Say hi and tell you I’m ok. Not that any of you noticed.  : )

On “E”

I am really running on empty here lately. Between heart doctors and medicine, and certain 14 year old children who will remain nameless, I’m wiped out. Maybe it’s the cold weather or the time of year. I think that January and February have got to be the most unglamorous months of the year. Every once in a while I spy a humorous event or situation and file it away in a place in my brain that apparently is not equipped with the latest long term memory technology.

On a Larry note things are doing ok. He has some tests that need to be further investigated, but I’ll just continue to think that things are ok until told otherwise. I talk on the phone with him every couple of days to make sure I’m not missing anything, but all I hear about is how he is going to send me the piano and a load of snow. This is a long running joke with us. He’s been trying to get rid of that piano for a while now.

Lets see if there are any pictures to share…

Looking through my pictures I see a picture that has a post of its own. Stay tuned.

Status updates

Mom and Dad are traveling this weekend, so if you are between the Quad Cities and Kansas City keep an eye out for them. There is a stop scheduled in Alton to visit the “other” Carrolls and then it’s on to Kansas City to visit with the gang. I think I’ve been promised pictures, but that Kansas City group is know for their wild parties, so they might forget. I think everyone was wondering how Dad might do traveling, I’m hoping it is a non-event.

We are expecting visitors later today from Indiana and hopefully we will have adventures to report from that visit also.

All of this adds up to a big fat ZERO news day from Sweden. I DO, however, have some links to other interesting blogs or articles depending on how bored you are. Look below.

At the car wash

Just a short Larry update to tell you there is no update really. I called mom on Mother’s day and was going to talk to dad, but he was up washing his truck. Maybe I’m crazy but this made me feel really good. Knowing that my dad is off washing his vehicles makes me think that he is on the mend. Having clean cars has been a thing of his forever and if he is spending time doing that I know he is on the right track. I have also read that Ron Farwell is progressing well with his treatment and is in good spirits which also makes me feel pretty good. First person who ruins my mood now is going to get it!

Not much to see here....

I talked with mom yesterday. Dad is doing ok and is headed to breakfast this morning, she didn't mention with who. There is really no change, just waiting for more chemo, tests and the ever looming PET scan on Thursday. I talked with him briefly about their trip to Alton a day or two before. He seems in good spirits. Soooo....all in all an uneventful update for you. Thanks to everyone for checking in here and thanks also to those of you who are involved in the day to day lives of my mom and dad, helping them out. The only thing making me homesick on this trip is seeing them and wanting to help out. More later.

Today...check the date, cuz who knows when "today" is.

Not a lot to report, but if I don't keep posting I'll feel bad.

I talked with dad this morning. For those of you that haven't talked to him, he is a little more emotional than he has ever been. Don't be surprised when you do speak with him that he gets upset and teary sounding. I'll ask him when I'm home what it is he gets upset about, but I think he just misses having everything normal. I'm sure he would rather talk baseball or something else than how he is feeling that day, how tired he is, or what's next. I try to keep it lighthearted and eventually he gets around to being more like himself.

Chemo starts at around 8:45, Monday December 15th. He is going to have it done outpatient at his doctors office and will take a few hours. I think my mom said that the doctor is hoping to see some results in only a few treatments. He will be going every two weeks for a while. I'll have to get the exact schedule later.

Let me know of any messages to pass on. Me and my family are travelling to Orion next weekend and hope to be there by 12/21. It's quite a drive...one that I've never had to make. Too bad the frequent flier miles disappeared so quickly.

Hope everyone is well.
